3D Modeling with ANY Digital Camera
previous - OrtenPIX

The concept :
1) Acquisition :

OrtenPIX can be used for the simple and the more challenging shapes. Standard LSO and TLSO require only 2 pictures (front and lateral). For more complex cases, 2 or 4 pictures can be added. Lines are drawn wherever more definition is needed: For example, the posterior side for a scoliosis corset or the anterior aspect of bony prominences of a BK limb.

In all cases, pictures are taken with your digital camera. 2 calibrations cards must be visible in the pictures. For a simple TLSO, one card can be used.

2) 3D Modeling :

Digital pictures are imported within OrtenPIX's software. Once you select a few landmarks and contour the patient's silhouette (front and lateral), the software morphs a 3D shape to your patient's limb or trunk. This protocol fits the needs for simple shapes which include standard TLSO's, KO's and BK files.
For more complex cases, you can use more pictures and ActivCurve technology along with lines drawn on the jersey, the software detects surface nuances, and precisely reproduces the patient's shapes. This is the ideal method for scoliosis TLSO or for challenging BK or KO shapes. Same protocol can be used for seating systems.
3) Correction :

From the initial pictures taken with your digital camera, modification is easily achieved: Contours and ActivCurve lines can be edited to fit your patient's needs. Thorough modifications can be further used with our proprietary software for the trunk and lower extremities. (Ort-trunk and Ort-Inf)

Hardware:

All hardware fit in a small suitcase. It contains:
  • your own digital camera.
  • the calibration patterns
